By definition, Q2 is the second quarter of the year. Technically, Q2 stands for \u201cquarter two.&#8221;\n\nWhen it comes to advertising, there&#8217;s a lot more to Q2 than meets the eye.\n<h3>When is Q2?<\/h3>\nQ2 is the tax quarter of the year that includes the months of April, May and June. Q2 comes in right after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/what-is-q1\/\">Q1<\/a>, the first tax quarter of the year.\n\n<!--more-->\n<h3>What to expect in Q2<\/h3>\nComing in after Q1, which is known as the year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/q1-ad-revenue-slump\/\">biggest revenue slump<\/a>, Q2 typically brings higher advertising spend as it ramps up toward summertime.\n\nThe Q2 months will see an increase after Q1, followed by a drop at the beginning of Q3 (known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/ad-revenue-seasons\/\">summer slump<\/a>), with advertising spend increasing through the rest of the year, and especially ramping up in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/what-is-q4\/\">Q4<\/a>.\n\nBut know this: RPMs typically drop on the first day of any month, and that drop is usually a bit higher when the first of the month is also the first day of a new quarter.\n\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11093 size-mv_create_no_ratio\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/designer-desk-735x490.jpg\" alt=\"Desk top with computer, smart phone, coffee and office supplies.\" width=\"735\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/designer-desk-735x490.jpg 735w, https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/designer-desk-441x294.jpg 441w, https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/designer-desk-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/designer-desk-690x460.jpg 690w, https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/designer-desk.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 735px) 100vw, 735px\" \/>\n<h3>Events and Holidays in Q2<\/h3>\nDuring Q2, you can plan seasonal, spring content around events and holidays such as Easter, spring break, tax season, the Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo, Mother\u2019s Day, Memorial Day, graduations and Father\u2019s Day.\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/3-action-items-that-will-get-you-massive-traffic\/\">Your traffic<\/a> may increase around these seasonal events, and sometimes it will spike, which is often paired with an RPM drop.\n\nIf you see your <a href=\"https:\/\/help.mediavine.com\/en\/articles\/94328-why-did-my-rpm-drop-during-a-traffic-spike\">traffic go up and your RPM go down<\/a> around a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/how-to-capitalize-on-holidays-as-a-content-creator\/\">holiday<\/a>, don\u2019t fret. This is expected behavior.\n\nAdvertisers like to plan their spending in advance. When you have a traffic surge, they aren&#8217;t always prepared, and so they won&#8217;t necessarily send through top-paying campaigns consistently throughout the surge.\n\nThe best thing you can do is to optimize that post and make sure it is ready to perform well for ads, and know that it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/why-does-my-rpm-change\/\">normal for RPMs to
