In other words, it&#8217;s an advertiser&#8217;s dream.\n\nYou can think of it as the desktop equivalent of Mediavine&#8217;s exclusive autoplay video player on mobile, only more lucrative. Despite our mobile-first approach to ads, desktop shouldn&#8217;t be ignored.\n\nBecause the player runs on desktop, where inventory receives much higher bids, and is considered a larger player, it outpaces the mobile autoplay video in terms of earnings per user.\n\nThe unit is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/lazy-loading-video-player\/\">lazy-loaded<\/a>, which means your video won\u2019t show until the reader nears it as they scroll.\n<div class=\"video-responsive\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fmediavinepublishernetwork%2Fvideos%2F999955113530852%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h2>Autoplay: Taking Videos to the Next Level<\/h2>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previously, in order to allow autoplay on &#8220;sticky&#8221; videos, the Mediavine video player required you to place videos at the top of the page \u2014 within the first screen view of content.<\/span>\n\nEffective, yes, but not the greatest user experience.\n\nA video player that large is going to push the rest of your content further down the page, which may not be ideal, and furthermore, means longer load times for that first screen view.\n\nOur hands had been tied here due to a Google AdExchange policy, but the exciting news is that this policy has now been changed, allowing us to announce a solution: Autoplay!\n\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mediavine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/af0b1f569f5241ffd65a86fd08182aab.gif\" alt=\"A gif of the Or Whatever You Do home page.\" width=\"600\" height=\"365\" \/>\n\nAutoplay does what its name implies. A video starts off paused, and only begins rolling as the player scrolls into view. Hence, Autoplay.\n\nThis means Mediavine publishers will now be able to run videos outside of the first screen view, or below the fold, and still benefit from an autoplay-like experience.\n\nThe sticky player will appear under the first in-content ad if you are using the featured video and\/or the \u201coptimized placement\u201d setting. This requires autoplay to be enabled for either device type (mobile or desktop).\n\nOn desktop, that is \u2265 1 paragraph below your 1st in-content ad. On mobile, it&#8217;ll be \u2265 1 paragraph below your 2nd in-content ad.
